Welcome to Network for Community Development (NCD),

The Network for Community Development (NCD) contributes to poverty alleviation and development by empowering communities through development, culture, and development programs. We strive to create positive change in Zimbabwe by engaging communities, improving livelihoods, and fostering sustainable development. We are registered as a private voluntary organization in terms of subsection (5) of section 9 of the Private Voluntary Organisation Act (Chapter 17:05) of the Republic of Zimbabwe. NCD was founded in 2011, we work towards improving the lives of marginalized groups and underserved communities. To achieve these various strategies such as capacity building, service provision, information sharing, and advocacy are utilized to address challenges faced by these groups.

To improve the lives of the poor, vulnerable children, women, youth and underserved communities in Zimbabwe through capacity building, service provision, information sharing, and advocacy by 2030.

Our Projects

Empowering Orphans and Vulnerable Children/groups

NCD identifies orphans and other vulnerable children and groups within specific communities in Zimbabwe. We design and implement programs that support, empower, and improve livelihoods. We focus on understanding the unique needs and challenges faced by these vulnerable individuals and propose strategies to enhance their socio-economic well-being and overall quality of life. We provide valuable insights and recommendations for effective interventions that promote empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.

Mwanandishe / Child is King

The project aims to support orphans and other vulnerable children and groups in Chipinge by identifying their specific needs and challenges and implementing programs to support and empower them towards sustainable livelihoods. Through research and livelihood support, the project will provide valuable insights and recommendations for effective interventions that promote empowerment and improve the socio-economic well-being of these vulnerable individuals. The project seeks to enhance their quality of life and contribute to their overall well-being by providing counselling, and financial and technical support to these children.

Capacity Building Project on Entrepreneurship Project

This project aims to provide community capacity building through educational programs focused on entrepreneurship, environmental management, and resource utilization. NCD  empowers individuals by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to foster sustainable development and enhance their overall well-being. By focusing on entrepreneurship, environmental management/climate change, and resource utilization, NCD will promote economic growth, environmental conservation, and the efficient utilization of available resources.

Empowering Communities for Sustainable Development

The Junior League Project

Aims to address challenges faced by the Chipinge community, particularly high levels of unemployment, poverty, and substance abuse among youth. Through the establishment of a soccer league and community-based programs, the project aims to provide young people aged 15-17 with a safe and supportive environment to develop their skills, access education and career guidance, and learn valuable life lessons. The league will be open to disadvantaged youth and will be supported by experienced coaches and mentors. The community-based programs will also address the root causes of these issues and aim to guide participants towards career opportunities while promoting character development and resilience. The project seeks funding to support its implementation and aims to have a transformative impact on the lives of young people in Chipinge.

Adonis Tafirenyika Ntuli

Board Member

Adonis Ntuli is a highly experienced and dedicated professional with a remarkable background in government and the banking sector. With over 15 years of experience, he currently serves as a valued board member for NCD, where he brings his expertise in project strategic planning to the organization. As a Development Economist, Adonis has made significant contributions within Zimbabwe institutions, demonstrating his deep understanding of economic policies and their impact on development. He holds a BSc (hons) degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Master’s in Economic Policy from Peking University, reflecting his strong educational foundation. Adonis has conducted extensive research on crucial topics such as economic policy, climate change, and education financing, showcasing his commitment to addressing critical societal challenges. 

Obodiah Mugano

Board Member

Obodiah is an experienced professional with a strong background in education and a current focus on the NGO sector. His expertise spans across various disciplines, including teaching, counseling, and career guidance. Throughout his career, Mugano has positively impacted the lives of students, parents, and the community in Chipinge, extending his influence beyond the classroom. He holds a secondary Teachers certificate and a Be.d in Education. Obodiah’s contributions have been instrumental in successfully implementing projects in education, health, child protection, skills training, and livelihoods within various organizations. His multifaceted approach to community development has garnered significant results, improving the well-being and opportunities available to marginalized individuals and communities.

Anna Mushunje

Board Member

Annah Mushunje is a highly experienced professional with a strong background in finance and administration. Currently serving as the Finance and Administration Manager at AFRODAD, Annah brings a wealth of expertise to her role as a board member at the Network for Community Development (NCD). Annah’s journey at AFRODAD spans several years, showcasing her dedication to the organization’s mission. She previously worked in the Finance Department as a Finance Officer from October 2014 to September 2016, where she honed her financial management skills and gained valuable experience in the nonprofit sector. Her professional experience extends beyond AFRODAD. Annah has worked in both private and non-governmental organizations, including Paper Co-Holdings and Women and AIDS Support Network. In these roles, she served as a Finance and Administration Officer, contributing to the financial and administrative functions of the organizations. Annah’s educational background further enhances her qualifications. She holds a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Applied Mathematics from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).

Agnes Chatsama

Board Member

ADV Agness Chatsama is Board Chair, Responsible for Legal Matters. She holds a LLB (HONS) from the University of Zimbabwe. She has 14 years in legal practice, with 10 years in managerial positions. She is an experienced legal professional with a distinguished career spanning 14 years. With a proven track record in legal practice, Adv. Chatsama has specialized in a wide range of legal areas, demonstrating exceptional competence and knowledge. Her extensive experience in managerial positions has honed her skills in overseeing operations and managing teams effectively. As a Board Member at NCD, Adv. Chatsama is responsible for legal matters, bringing her expertise and experience to the organization. Her ability to handle complex legal issues and her commitment to fairness and equality make her a valuable asset to the team. She has a remarkable success rate, having won over 95% of her cases in both court and out-of-court settlements.

Fortunate Dhliwayo

Board Member

Ms. F.G. Dhliwayo is a highly experienced and dedicated development practitioner who will bring valuable expertise to the board of the Network for Community Development (NCD). With over 13 years of experience in community programming, she has established herself as a seasoned professional in the field. Ms. Dhliwayo holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in African Languages and Culture, a Master of Arts in Development Studies, and a certificate in Project Management. Her educational background reflects her commitment to continuous learning and professional growth within the field of development.

Respect Gwenzi

Board Member

Respect Gwenzi is a highly accomplished professional and esteemed economist who brings a wealth of expertise to the role of board member at the Network for Community Development (NCD). As the CEO of Equity Axis, a company he founded, Respect has established himself as a prominent figure in the financial sector, particularly in providing financial news and analysis for Zimbabwe.

 

Faith Zaba

Board Member

Faith Zaba is an experienced Editor and media professional with a strong background in political science, news writing, and journalism. With a demonstrated history of working in the media production industry, Faith brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as a board member at NCD. She holds a Master of Arts in International Communication from Macquarie University and is also a facilitator, trainer, mentor, and coach. Currently, Faith serves as a Facilitator and Trainer at Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and as an Editor at Zimbabwe Independent.

Faith has extensive experience in board management, as she is a part of the Media Institute of Southern Africa and serves as Coordinator of the Womentorship Programme, which trains young and upcoming journalists in Zimbabwe. In addition, Faith has also been involved in leadership training programs, where she has trained youth leaders from political parties, civil society, and student and labor movements on communication and political communication. She has also used her expertise to train and mentor journalists on investigative reporting, further showcasing her strong leadership skills and commitment to developing the media industry in Zimbabwe. Faith’s experience in board management and training programs makes her a valuable asset to NCD’s board of directors.

In her role as a board member at NCD, Faith is responsible for communications, research analysis, and serving as a brand ambassador for the organization. With her extensive experience in media management and advocacy for media freedom and human rights, Faith is a valuable asset to NCD’s efforts in promoting social and economic development. Her strong communication skills and dedication to using the media as a tool for positive change make her an ideal candidate for this role

Taurai Chiraerae

Taurai Chiraerae is the highly accomplished Executive Director of the Network for Community Development (NCD). With a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs, a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Development Studies, and a certificate in Financial Management, he possesses a diverse educational background that combines expertise in community development, strategic leadership, and financial acumen.

Taurai’s extensive experience in the NGO sector, including his previous roles as a Program Associate at Reality of Aid Africa, Policy Analyst at AFRODAD, and Policy Analyst at Equity Axis, has honed his skills in program management, research-based policy advocacy, and partnership building. His contributions to various humanitarian organizations, such as World Vision, further demonstrate his commitment to social transformation and addressing societal issues.

Throughout his career, Taurai has showcased exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling him to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and forge sustainable partnerships. He possesses a deep understanding of the vital role that art and culture play in community empowerment and development, aligning perfectly with NCD’s mission.

As a visionary leader, Taurai inspires and motivates both the internal team and external stakeholders, driving NCD’s mission to create a positive impact and foster the well-being of the communities they serve. His strong financial acumen ensures the organization’s sustainability, while his strategic leadership and program management expertise enable effective oversight and implementation of initiatives.

With his extensive experience in research-based policy advocacy, including the development of country case studies, policy briefs, and occasional papers, Taurai brings valuable insight and expertise to NCD. His combination of skills, knowledge, and passion make him an ideal fit for the Director’s role, where he will continue to lead the organization in achieving its goals and making a meaningful difference in the communities it serves
